What moves the price
- Style. A tilt and turn or sash costs more than a casement because of the opening gear.
- Size. Larger panes need more frame and heavier glass.
- Colour. Checkatrade says coloured aluminium costs around 10 to 20% more than standard.

Aluminium buys slimmer frames, more glass and a 30 to 40 year life against uPVC's 20 to 25. It earns the premium on large openings and modern extensions, and less so on a back bedroom window. Do coloured aluminium windows cost more?
Usually yes. Checkatrade says coloured aluminium windows cost around 10 to 20% more. Aluminium is powder coated, so anthracite grey and black are common choices rather than special orders.
