Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026. The short version: if you only read the site we collect almost nothing, and if you ask for quotes we pass your enquiry to one named company.

Who we are

This website is doubleglazingcostcalculator.co.uk, a UK cost information site for homeowners. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which means we are the ones who decide what is collected and why.

How to contact us

For anything in this policy, including any of the rights set out below, email hello@doubleglazingcostcalculator.co.uk. This mailbox is monitored and reaches the person responsible for data protection here. We have not appointed a statutory Data Protection Officer, because we are not required to, so this is a data protection contact rather than a DPO.

What we collect

If you are reading pages or using the calculator, we collect no personal data from you at all. The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser: the figures you enter, such as property type, window count, style and material, are never sent to our servers.

If you ask us to arrange quotes, we collect your name, phone number, email address, postcode and the details of the work you want quoted. We also record the date and time you gave your consent, your IP address and the wording you agreed to, so we can show that you asked for the quotes.

Separately, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps, for security and capacity purposes, as virtually every website does. These are held briefly and are not used to identify or profile you.

Why we collect it

For one purpose: to pass your enquiry to Leads 2 Trade Limited so that they can arrange double glazing quotes from installers covering your area. That is the whole of it. We do not use your details to market anything to you ourselves, and we do not build a profile of you.

Our lawful basis

Consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. You give it by ticking the box on the quote request form, which is never pre-ticked. Because the installers will telephone you, we also rely on your consent for the purposes of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), which is what governs marketing calls.

You can withdraw your consent at any time, and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew, and it does not affect your use of the rest of the site.

Who we share your data with

Your enquiry goes to Leads 2 Trade Limited, who operate the consumer comparison services Trusted Local Installers and CompareCompanies. They are named here rather than described as a "partner" or a "selected third party" on purpose: you are entitled to know exactly who is getting your details before you hand them over.

This happens in two stages, and both are worth being clear about:

  1. We pass your enquiry to Leads 2 Trade. They telephone you to confirm what you need.
  2. Leads 2 Trade then pass your details to up to four local home-improvement installers covering your area, who contact you by phone to arrange quotes. That second step happens under their own consent process, recorded on their call with you, not under this policy.

Once an installer receives your details, that installer becomes an independent controller of your data and handles it under its own privacy policy, not ours. If you want an installer to erase your details, the fastest route is to ask that installer directly, although you can also ask us and we will pass the request on.

We do not share your enquiry with anyone else. There is no onward sale, no data broker, and no list.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry and the record of your consent for 24 months from the date you contact us, then delete them. How long Leads 2 Trade and the installers keep your details is a matter for their own policies, since they are separate controllers.

If you email us with a question or a correction, we keep the message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it, then delete them. We do not add you to any list.

Stopping the calls

Your other rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify it if it is wrong or incomplete
  • Erase it
  • Restrict how we use it
  • Object to our using it, including for direct marketing as described above
  • Portability, meaning a copy in a machine-readable form
  • Withdraw consent at any time

Email hello@doubleglazingcostcalculator.co.uk to exercise any of these, and we will respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk. You are welcome to raise it with us first, but you are not obliged to.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people find useful, and it sets cookies. We do not load it, and no analytics cookie is set, unless you accept it on the banner. Refusing changes nothing about how the site works. We do not run advertising cookies and we do not use your enquiry data for analytics.

We also use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which are first-party and set no cookies, which is why they are not behind the banner. The full detail, including how to change your mind, is in our cookie policy.

Changes to this policy

Any change is published on this page with the date below, and we keep the previous versions on file. This policy was last updated on 10 August 2026.
